PNND supports Kazakh President's initiatives for a nuclear-weapon free world - Alyn Ware
ASTANA. January 17. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received Alyn Ware, Global Coordinator for the Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament (PNND) in Astana to discuss international cooperation in the field of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, the Presidential press service told Kazinform.
"Your work fully coincides with my ideas for establishing a nuclear weapons free world. I am willing to participate in this process and take concrete practical steps in this direction. During the UN General Assembly session I proposed to create conditions for a nuclear-free world, including the adoption of the Declaration for Nuclear Free World. August 29 - the day of closure of the Semipalatinsk test site - was declared by the UN International Day against Nuclear Tests," Nazarbayev said at the meeting.
"We very much appreciate the leadership of Nursultan Nazarbayev on global nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation. Our organization supports all initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan in this area. In cooperation with Kazakhstan we advocate for an end to nuclear testing and the creation of a world free of nuclear weapons," Alyn Ware told a briefing.
