The Republic of Kazakhstan joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The White House hosted a meeting between the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States of America. As a result of the talks, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and his American counterpart Bill Clinton signed the Charter of Democratic Partnership between the two countries.
The parents of cancer-stricken children of Kazakhstan created Save Life non-governmental organization. The purpose of establishing the NGO was to support parents of cancer-stricken children, exchange information and experience, and to grant financial aid to those in need. In addition, one of the reasons was to join the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO).
The Research and Production Center for Transfusiology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan was established at the premises of the Blood Center of Astana city.
Kazakhstan hit the world's top five in terms of the number of professional boxing titles as Kazakh boxer Zhanat Zhakiyanov (27-1, 18 KOs) won the WBA Super and IBO bantamweight titles. Now Kazakhstan has four belts: three (WBA Super, WBC, and IBF) held by Gennady ‘GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs), and one (WBA Super) by Zhakiyanov.
Sattigali Zholdasbay, a 12-grade student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of the chemical-biological direction of Aktau city created SMART hat for blind and visually impaired people. It has a motion sensor that gives a signal to a vibration motor of an ordinary cell phone. When a person goes, the sensors of the hat detect the obstacle in front and starts vibrating, thus, alerting the person about obstacles.
At the World Government Summit in Dubai, Kazakh delegation headed by Minister of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev was awarded the First World Govtechineers Race-2017 for the Egov - mgov app. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president and prime minister of the UAE and Emir of Dubai handed the award to Kazakh Minister.
